Innovative Mac P2P client
Acquisition is one of the lesser-known P2P clients out there, but that doesn't mean it isn't any good. On the contrary, Acquisition is based on both the Gnutella and BitTorrent networks meaning you have a huge amount of data at your disposal.
Acquisition automatically sends downloaded files to iTunes and your iPod or iPhone which is something you won't find in even big apps such as Limewire and Transmission. Acquisition has an elegant interface that displays search results along the left hand side while the top bar divides files into artist and album. Acquisition's search tool is fast and displays suggestions as you type and you can create and add filters to display less and more precise results.
You can follow the progress of downloads via the status bars and even preview files before they are completed although this doesn't always work. On the downside, the Gnutella network is a bit outdated nowadays and not as reliable or content rich as it was but at least Bittorrent makes up for this. Be warned too that many users have been left unimpressed by support from the developer, and the fact that faithful users have been charged to upgrade to the latest version.
Acquisition is an interesting P2P client with a few innovative features but when Transmission and Limewire are both free, users will see little point paying for it.
Changes
This release brings auto-updater support (similar to the recent NewsFire beta) to make future software updates as painless as possible. There are also a number of minor cosmetic changes along with general improvements to the app's ability to consistently find robust connections to the search network.
